All Blacks North v South

Steinlager North v South

Eden Park, Auckland

Stadium - Eden Park IN

The traditional North Island v South Island clash has been revived and will be played at Eden Park on Saturday 29 August 2020.  Experience Group is the Official Hospitality provider to this unique event.

Having been played on an almost annual basis over the course of 80 matches between 1897 and 1986, the inter-island match is set to be staged for just the third time since 1995.  In the absence of a regular playing schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic, its return has created a buzz among rugby fans across the country.

The inter-island clash was first played in 1897 and was a regular on the annual rugby calendar until 1985.  Since then there have only been two North v South matches, once in 1995 and again in 2012.

The first game was played on 30 June 1897 at Wellington's Athletic Park, and the last annual match was played in 1995, with a one-off game at Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium in 2012 which was won by the South 34-24.  Since 1904 the North Island traditionally played in black jerseys and black shorts, while the South Island played in white jerseys with white shorts.

Selection for the teams will be based on which province a player made their first class debut for.  This potentially means that not only will we see a mouth-watering North v South match-up, we will also see families facing off,  Beauden Barrett debuted for Taranaki, and Scott and Jordie Barrett debuted for Canterbury.

The Steinlager North v South 2020 teams will be coached by All Blacks Assistant Coaches, Greg Feek and Brad Mooar, who will be in charge of the South Island while Scott McLeod and John Plumtree will lead the North Island.

What a great way to entertain clients and get the inter-island rivalry flowing!  View the Steinlager North v South hospitality packages brought to you exclusively by Experience Group showing the various options available, from Suites through to casual stand-up options.
