All Blacks v Australia

Sky Stadium, Wellington - 4.00pm Kick Off

ABH Bledisloe Westpac Stadium

SUNDAY 11 OCTOBER 2020

Lord Bledisloe, Governor General of New Zealand from 1930 to 1935, bequeathed a trophy to the New Zealand Rugby Union with his name on it for perpetual competition between the All Blacks and the Wallabies.  The two countries have been playing for the Bledisloe Cup since 1931 and it is the symbol of trans-Tasman supremacy in rugby union.

In recent years, it's largely been a one-sided affair, with the All Blacks regularly beating the Wallabies.  To date, the ledger is heavily in the AB's favour.  However, the All Blacks relish the trans-Tasman rivalry and take very seriously every Bledisloe Cup encounter, as do the Wallabies.  It is a much followed and valued part of the annual All Blacks playing calendar.

We are very excited to announce that the dates have been confirmed by NZ Rugby for the two Bledisloe Cup matches to be played in New Zealand this year.  On Sunday 11 October at Sky Stadium in Wellington the All Blacks will take on the Wallabies at 4.00pm, and the following week we will see the same two teams play at Eden Park in Auckland on Sunday 18 October at 4.00pm.

Mark Robinson, CEO of NZ Rugby, acknowledged the complex and challenging puzzle to solve and was grateful that both rugby organisations, together with the Government, came together to get these matches across the line.

In even better news for fans and audiences in general, the daytime announcement will be hugely exciting with both matches kicking off at 3.30pm on respective Sundays.

But more importantly for fans and business audiences who have been inordinately patient, and have been looking forward to the resumption of international rugby, and the All Blacks in particular, finally have something to get excited about.

Both teams have seen an influx of new internationals being announced, and as far as Bledisloe Cup matches go, these ones will be right up there.  The four matches in this Bledisloe Series will be hugely anticipated!
